On May 4, 2024, the North Miami Beach Library came alive with Haiti, Rhythm of Our Heartbeat: The Spirit of Konbit, an unforgettable evening honoring Haitian Heritage Month. Presented by the City of North Miami Beach Mayor & Commission, The Multicultural Committee, and Juicing With Art, the event celebrated Haitian culture through an immersive experience of art, music, dance, poetry, film, and cuisine. Highlights included exhibitions by Zeek Mathias and Willandra McGahee, performances by NSL Danse Ensemble, Strings, Sanbazao, and Samuel Duperval, poetry by Rebecca “Butterfly” Vaughns and Andre Fouad, and the screening of Sound The Tanbou. Hosted by Dr. Laine Powell with music by DJ Francois, the evening embraced the spirit of Konbit—Haiti’s deep-rooted value of unity and collective strength. Additional partners included A Reflection of Me, Inc., Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Art of Black Miami, and WSRF 1580 AM
